Journal Online, 25 July 2008

Four mainstays of the multi-tilted Wang’s Ballclub have applied for this year’s Philippine Basketball Associaiton (PBA) annual draft to be held on Aug. 31 at the Market!Market! Place in Taguig City.

The four -- Mark Anthony Cuevas, Adrew Catigan, Ryan Regalado and Diomar Facun -- will be represented by businessman-sportsman Alex Wang and coach Loreto “Ato” Tolentino.

“The four players are now capable of playing in the big league,” said Tolentino, who averaged 15.7 points in five seasons for Presto Ice Cream in the PBA from 1975 to 1979.

Cuevas, a 6-6 Filipino-American center, played college ball at the Los Angeles County College.

The power-playing, slam- dunking Cuevas, who can also play power forward, is the son of former MMICAA player Eddie Cuevas, whose family migrated to the United States in the early 90s.

Catigan, a 5-11, guard who was born in Cavite City but was raised in Vancouver, Canada was once named Most Valuable Player in the PBL-Vancouver in 2005.

Drew, as he is commonly called, was also named play-off MVP in the 2006.
Born to Alexander Catigan and Adora Bartolome in 1984, Catigan was called “the Slasher” and the “Finisher” while playing in Langara College.

Regalado, a 5-10 shooting guard, is a member of multi-titled University of Manila Hawks which dominated the first five years of the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and University (NAASCU) from 2001 to 2005.

Regalado, the pride of Virac, Catanduanes, also named Most Valuable Player in the NAASCU in 2005.

Facun, a 6’8” beanpole from Tarlac City, is also a member of UM champion team.

All four players are currently being trained under the supervision of Tolentino and Wang. They are also key members of the Wang’s Ballclub competing in various commercial leagues.
