The 'Ninja' Goes to the Realtors

On: 10 September 2007

Yesterday saw another blockbuster trade deal involving the Sta. Lucia Realtors and the Coca-Cola Tigers. The Realtors dealt wingman Cesar Catli and forward Mark Isip to the Tigers in exchange for former La Salle star Joseph Yeo plus a future draft pick.

The deal has given the Realtors a slasher after trading Kenneth Duremdes also to Coca-Cola last season. Aside from Duremdes, the Realtors also moved Alex Cabagnot and Ricky Calimag in exchange for Dennis Miranda and Manny Ramos.

Some believes that the deal favors SLR more than Coke. For one, both Catli and Isip may be promising when they were first drafted by SLR, but their numbers last season were unimpressive. Both were averaging less than 5 point in rebounding and scoring each.

Joseph Yeo, on the other hand, is already averaging 10ppg, 4.6 rpg and 1.2 apg in 26 minutes per contest relieving main star John Arigo halfway into the elimination round of the 2006-2007 PBA Talk N Text Philippine Cup.

Nicknamed “The Ninja” for his aerial forays and no fear attitude, Yeo is also expected to give the Realtors are huge fan base. According to an interview with the Philippine Star, SLR coach Boyet Fernandez believes that, “Yeo has a good fan base. He may well boost crowd support for the team.”
